Free Vocational Program for Women and 2-Year Apprenticeship Scholarship for young people

Implementing the Decision No. 2386/QĐ-UBND of the People's Committee of Lang Son Province dated December 8, 2021 on approving the Project on establishing, constructing and developing Lang Son Geopark in the 2021-2025 period, which clearly states the goal of building and developing Lang Son Geopark to contribute to socio-economic sustainable development, Lang Son Geopark Management Board has strengthened connections with domestic and international partners, attracting resources for training to improve the quality of human resources in Lang Son Geopark, especially human resources in the field of tourism services.

Lang Son Geopark Management Board contacted and discussed with KOTO Co., Ltd. about training courses to improve the quality of human resources for restaurants, hotels and homestays in Lang Son Geopark. On September 24, 2022, KOTO Co., Ltd. introduced a free vocational training program for women and a 2-year apprenticeship scholarship for young people to Lang Son Geopark Management Board.

Founded in 1999, KOTO was originally known as a non-profit organization. Mr. Jimmy Pham - a young leader honored by the World Economic Forum in 2011, founded KOTO with the motto "the best way to help them is to teach them to fish, not to give them the fish". Therefore, KOTO actively searches for children with difficult circumstances, wandering and being orphaned, carefully reviewing their conditions, identities and abilities to ensure they can attend training courses. Not only vocational training including cooking, service skills, restaurant and hotel management, KOTO also helps students with life skills, communication skills, learning foreign languages... With the motto "Know One, Teach One", KOTO has helped and changed the lives of more than a thousand street children in difficult circumstances in Vietnam.

Information about the Free Vocational Training Program for Women and the 2-year Apprenticeship Scholarship for young people is as follows:

1. Free vocational training support program for women

 The program is part of the Women's Economic Empowerment Project. This is a project to improve vocational skills and entrepreneurship for disadvantaged women, focusing on ethnic minority women and those in rural, remote areas in Vietnam, funded by the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade for KOTO Social Enterprise to implement.

This program is for women aged 18-28 who are healthy, have the ability and determination to study, with priority given to ethnic women, women disadvantaged or high-risk situations, women disadvantaged groups, women in particularly disadvantaged areas...

Benefits of program participants: 100% free training scholarship for six months in either Commercial Cooking or Hospitality Operations; In addition, they are also taught communication & specialized English, life skills, basic computer skills;

During their study at KOTO, students will receive free support: accommodation, living and health care; study in a professional, loving and friendly environment; internships at professional hotels and restaurants; career counseling and job security after completing the course.

Every year, KOTO has two scholarships awarded with 25 trainees for each period. The course opens in September and December every year, receiving applications all year round.

2. Two-year apprenticeship scholarship for young people

This program is for boys and girls aged 16-22, belonging to disadvantaged and high-risk groups, who are healthy, capable and determined to study.

Scholarship recipient benefits:

About learning: Enjoy a comprehensive and free training program for two years including learning either Commercial Cooking or Hospitality Operations according to an international curriculum with more than 1,200 hours of training; 420 hours of English communication & specialized training; 420 hours of Life Skills training; 250 hours of training in Computer Skills.

 Graduated with Certificate III in Hospitality Industry issued by Box Hill Institute Australia and English Certificate Apollo English Center.

Welfare: During the study period, students will be sponsored for free accommodation at KOTO's dormitory; get health care by KOTO, participate in extra-curricular activities; study and live in a professional, friendly and safe environment; internship at large and professional hotel restaurants; guaranteed employment after completing the course. After graduation, you can join the alumni network to have opportunities for personal and professional development. The value of one KOTO scholarship in two years is equivalent to 150 million VND.

One year KOTO awards two scholarships with 25 trainees for each batch. The course starts in May and November every year, applications are accepted all year round.
