Implementing the consistent viewpoint of the Party committees and authorities of Lang Son province, Viet Nam in leading and directing the socio-economic development of the province towards sustainable development, ensuring a close, reasonable and harmonious combination between economic development associated with social development and environmental protection. The construction and development of Lang Son UNESCO Global Geopark is one of the solutions to concretize the above goal, aiming to promote sustainable and comprehensive economic growth, ensure livelihood creation, provide jobs, improve and increase income for people associated with protecting, preserving and honoring the cultural and natural heritage values of Lang Son province. Lang Son Geopark has been recognized by UNESCO as a global geopark, thereby contributing to creating a breakthrough for international economic integration, connecting Lang Son with partners in the UNESCO Global Geoparks Network, making practical contributions to the common international sustainable development goals. 

Pursuant to Conclusion No. 371-KL/TU dated July 17, 2021 of the Standing Committee of Lang Son Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Committee approved the Project on Establishment, Construction and Development of Lang Son Geopark for the period 2021 - 2025, accordingly: Lang Son Geopark includes the administrative area of eight districts and the city (including Bac Son, Chi Lang, Huu Lung, Loc Binh, Van Quan, Lang Son city, part of Binh Gia district and Cao Loc district with a total area of 4,842.58 km2, population of about 627,500 people, accounting for about 58% of the area and 78% of the population of the whole province) in the direction of conservation and reasonable and sustainable use of the overall of geoheritage, geomorphology, natural landscapes, cultural (tangible, intangible), biodiversity of the province. Since its establishment, relevant levels, sectors and agencies have actively implemented and completed many important related tasks according to UNESCO's criteria, specifically in November 2023, Lang Son province submitted the dossier to UNESCO for consideration and recognition of Lang Son Geopark as a global geopark; in July 2024, a UNESCO expert delegation came to conduct a field assessment of the Lang Son Geopark dossier. 

In September 2024, at the 8th International Conference of UNESCO Global Geoparks Network in the Asia-Pacific region held in Cao Bang province, UNESCO Global Geopark Council voted to recognize Lang Son Geopark as a UNESCO Global Geopark. In April 2025, UNESCO will officially post the list of new global geoparks on the Organization's website. In particular, in September 2025, Lang Son province will officially receive the Certificate of recognition of the title of  Lang Son UNESCO Global Geopark in the Republic of Chile. In November 2025, the province will organize a ceremony to receive the title of Lang Son UNESCO Global Geopark.

 In addition to the state's investment, in recent times, the province has also received the attention, support and consensus of the masses and the great support in terms of materials and funding enterprises in Lang Son province for the construction of Lang Son UNESCO Global Geopark. Enterprises inside and outside the province have supported the construction of the infrastructure of Lang Son UNESCO Global Geopark, especially the system of explanatory signs for the points on the four tourist routes of the Geopark, simulation of 2D models simulating paleontological species and cultural values for a number of tourist sites in Lang Son UNESCO Global Geopark region and landscape renovation of a number of sites. Up to now, nine units have been mobilized (T&T Group - Diamond Sponsor); Bao Nguyen Trading Transport Joint Stock Company - Gold Sponsor; Viettel Lang Son - Gold Sponsor; Huu Nghi - Chi Lang Expressway Joint Stock Company - Silver Sponsor; VNPT Lang Son - Silver sponsor; Four Points by Sheraton Lang Son Hotel - Bronze sponsor; Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development - Lang Son Branch - Bronze sponsor; Hoang Vu Advertising and Trade Company Limited - Bronze sponsor; Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Investment and Development - Lang Son Branch - Bronze sponsor) - sponsoring in the form of giving away objects: signs, 2D models, renovating rammed earth houses, renovating and beautifying landscapes, with a total cost of over 1 billion VND.

Seven enterprises are partners of Lang Son UNESCO Global Geopark, which have self-funded to renovate the landscape, the community cooperated to renovate the space of traditional houses, the landscape of some tourist spots, thereby contributing to meeting the requirements of completing the infrastructure system on four tourist routes of Lang Son UNESCO Global Geopark to serve the delegation of experts UNESCO Global Geoparks Network to conduct field assessments and contribute significant assessments to be recognized as a Global Geopark.

Viet Nam Expeditions Joint Stock Company has effectively cooperated with Lang Son UNESCO Global Geopark in surveying and evaluating potentials to develop adventure tourism (caving, exploring sinkholes, trekking).
