Exploring and mapping Nguom Mooc Cave, Tham Lum Sinkhole, Mong An Commune, Binh Gia District (Lang Son Geopark Tourist Route No. 02), Lang Son province, Viet Nam)
March 2 to 12, 2025, Lang Son Provincial Agency for Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion, Lang Son Province, Vietnam cooperated with the US National Speleological Society and Vietnam Expeditions Joint Stock Company to explore and map Nguom Mooc Cave, Tham Lum Sinkhole, Mong An Commune, Binh Gia District. The survey team included leaders of Lang Son Provincial Agency for Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion, Lang Son Geopark Management Division; five US experts - members of the US National Speleological Society; Vietnam Expeditions Joint Stock Company; representatives of the People's Committee of Binh Gia District, Binh Gia District Division of Culture and Information, and the People's Committee of Mong An Commune, Binh Gia District.
The purpose of the mission was to thoroughly map Nguom Mooc Cave and Tham Lum Sinkhole in Mong An Commune with the hope of establishing a connection between them; developing an understanding of the geology/hydrology of the area; assessing the caves to see if they are suitable for adventure tourism in the Geopark and identifying sensitive cave-forming areas that need to be protected.
The exploration and mapping of Nguom Mooc Cave and Tham Lum Sinkhole in Mong An Commune, Binh Gia District was a great success, thereby contributing to promoting communication, advertising, proposing solutions to build and develop products and tours for exploring caves and sinkholes in Lang Son Geopark; preparing geotourism products - exploring caves and sinkholes to introduce to domestic and international visitors, advising on announcement at the Ceremony to receive the Certificate of Lang Son UNESCO Global Geopark Title. At the same time, strengthen the cooperative relationship between Lang Son province and US partners.
