Bac Son district exploits potentials and strengths to develop tourism and geo-tourism in a sustainable direction

       Bac Son is a mountainous district, located in the northwest of Lang Son province. Bac Son district has long been known not only as a historical place, but also with beautiful and majestic natural scenery. The rich Bac Son valley lies between the four sides of limestone mountains, adorned with rivers winding through vast rice fields... creating a charming picture. In the line of history, Bac Son used to be a resistance base, where the famous Bac Son uprising took place in 1940. Bac Son valley is also the place where many archaeological sites of prehistoric people have been discovered. Here, archaeologists have found an entire civilization of the ancient Vietnamese in the Neolithic Diagram, named Bac Son culture. Besides, Bac Son Arc is considered the most typical limestone block in Viet Nam with special geological and geomorphological values. With that potential, Bac Son district has chosen to develop community-based tourism and geo-tourism. Currently, Bac Son district is one of five districts in Lang Son Geopark. Bac Son district has paid attention to developing the geo-tourism model.

       Bac Son revolutionary relic area includes 12 sites: Bo Tat site (Vu Le commune), Na Kheo hill area, Nong Luc communal house, Mo Nhai fort, Vu Lang School, Tham Thuong and Dam Di pass (Song Hoa village, Vu Lang commune), Mo Re cave, Sa Khao Mountain, Lan Pan Cave (Lan Pan village); Lan Tay Cave (Mo Pia village), Tam Canh Pass. Besides, there are also famous relics such as Relics of Na Rieng bridge, Quynh Son communal house (Bac Quynh commune).

       Bac Son Safety Zone: Since 2016, the entire Bac Son district has been recognized as a safety zone, covering 20 communes and township across the district. During the resistance war against the French colonialists, under the leadership of the Party, Bac Son people wrote a brilliant golden page of history with the heroic Bac Son uprising that took place on September 27, 1940, where Bac Son National Army Salvation Team was formed, the first armed army led by the Party, the predecessor of the Vietnam People's Army and the political and military training ground of the Party to prepare for the general uprising in August 1945 to gain independence for the nation.

       Bac Son Uprising Museum: 2.5 km the center of Bac Son township in Long Dong commune, the museum was built in 1985 with the appearance of simulating the architecture of Tay traditional house on stilts in a large, airy space. This is a place to display and keep a lot of documents and vivid artifacts about the heroic Bac Son Uprising in the history of the revolutionary struggle of the Vietnamese nation in the 1940s.

       Located on the arc of Bac Son - Ngan Son limestone mountains, Bac Son district has many caves in the heart of the mountain, alternating between limestone mountains that are mountainous areas and flat valleys, creating magnificent and unspoiled landscape with its natural beauty.

       Ironwood Forest: about 8 km Quynh Son commune, along the provincial road 241, visitors will see the natural landscape of the primeval iron wood forest in Dong Dang village, Bac Quynh commune. This is a rare primeval forest on a limestone mountain in the area that is preserved intact by villagers. In the forest, there are many rare and precious trees, including ancient trees of tens of meters high, giant tree trunks clinging to jagged cliffs. More interestingly, on the top of this rocky mountain there are many "weather forecast" trees that the villagers still call "may kham", this tree is so named because before the days of heavy rain and strong winds, their leaves will turn silver white instead of blue as usual.

       Tam Hoa Lake, Vu Lang Lake: With a vast space of freshwater lakes, you can experience rafting, recreational fishing and enjoy special cuisines. If you come to Bac Son in the ripe mandarin season (the 10th and 11th month of the lunar calendar), you can visit the specialty mandarin gardens that grow in the valleys, freely choose and buy mandarins as gifts.

       Coc Ly Cave: located in the heart of the rocky mountain behind the stadium in the center of Bac Son district township. Coc Ly Cave was ranked as a provincial scenic relic in 2002, with three spacious floors with many interesting shapes of stalactites.

       Pac Mo Lake in Huu Vinh commune, about 2 km the township center of Bac Son district along the inter-commune road. This is a ranked provincial level scenic relic in 2002. Not only is an irrigation lake providing water for production and daily life, Pac Mo Lake has a beautiful natural landscape, a source of blue water that never dries up and a peaceful lake surface reflecting the roofs of houses on stilts under the canopy of old trees at the foot of the mountains.

       Tham Hoai Cave: About 200 meters Pac Mo lake is Tham Hoai cave. The cave has two floors, many stalactites with strange and beautiful shapes, limestone columns of tens of meters high next to the path. The cave is located halfway up the mountain, more than 700 meters long, the ceiling is high and wide with many colorful stalactites.

       Mo Ma stream (Quang Trung 1 village, Chien Thang commune): 24 km Bac Son township center, Mo Ma stream is a destination chosen by many families to rest and enjoy the green space and local produce every weekend. The source of clear spring water flowing Keng Tao Cave and massive cliffs creates a picturesque scene, the highlight is the artificial fountain in the middle of the waterfall. The stream is wide, with cool water, deep places for tourists to swim.

         Na Lay Peak: At an altitude of about 600m above sea level, this place has a wide view angle in all directions, ideal for viewing the beautiful panorama of Bac Son valley above. On the top of Na Lay mountain, you can watch the sunrise and sunset and so on.

       Quynh Son community-based tourism and culture village attracts more than 7,000 visitors annually to visit the relics and experience the lifestyle and activities in traditional stilt houses and unique cuisine of the Tay in Bac Son, learn, enjoy the program of then singing, đàn tính (a traditional musical instrument), cửa đình singing, ví singing, fairy puppets dancing The community tourist site of Vu Lang commune has two large freshwater lakes with a total area of ​​over 30 hectares, interspersed between many hills and forests creating fresh air and two special national historical sites: Tham Thong - Dap Di pass, Vu Lang school. Visitors can go rafting, recreational fishing and enjoy food here.

       Based on very favorable conditions in terms of nature, culture and history, Bac Son district is currently implementing typical types of tourism such as community tourism, eco-tourism, spiritual tourism, geo-tourism... In the near future, Bac Son tourism will further flourish, bringing stable income for people, alleviate poverty, protect the environment and tourism landscape, make a significant contribution to tourism development in the province.
