Will Geotourism create a boost for Lang Son Geopark tourism?

Spanning over a vast territory of 4,842.58 km2, with a population of about 627,500 people (equivalent to about 58% of the area and 78% of the population in the province), covering the entire administrative boundaries of the districts: Bac Son, Chi Lang, Huu Lung, Loc Binh, Van Quan, Lang Son city, part of the administrative boundaries of Binh Gia district and Cao Loc district, Lang Son Geopark is a hidden gem in the mountainous region of Northern Vietnam. Lang Son Geopark is a living testament, encapsulating in its diverse landscapes the journey through 500 million years of life's evolution. ancient seas and volcanic lands to ironwood forests, each aspect of the Geopark tells a unique story. 

On September 8, 2024, within the framework of the 8th International Conference of the UNESCO Global Geoparks in the Asia-Pacific region, the UNESCO Global Geoparks Council Meeting conducted an assessment and vote, 100% of the members agreed to recognize Lang Son Lang Son Geopark as a UNESCO Global Geopark. In April 2025, UNESCO will officially add the List of Lang Son Global Geoparks on the Organization's Website. It is expected that in September 2025, Lang Son province will officially receive the Certificate of recognition of the title of Lang Son UNESCO Global Geopark in the Republic of Chile. In November 2025, Lang Son province will organize a Ceremony to announce the Certificate of UNESCO Lang Son Global Geopark Title with many sideline activities, including seminars, famtrip to survey geological tours and announcement of geotourism products in the Lang Son Geopark area.

Currently, in the Lang Son Geopark area, community tourism and spiritual tourism are being developed. Lang Son Geopark has a majestic natural geological and geomorphological terrain, with about 200 caves, many beautiful waterfalls and sinkholes, containing countless interesting and attractive things. This will be a resource to fuel the development of Geotourism (cave exploration, sport climbing, paragliding, trekking, waterfall crossing, sinkholes, SUB rowing). A caving tour with activities such as trekking, mountain climbing, swimming, diving, SUB rowing... can last 1 to 3 days, promising to be a tourism product that will keep visitors staying in Lang Son Geopark longer. Caving tourism products, sport climbing, waterfall crossing, sinkholes will turn typical tourism products of Lang Son Geopark - A highlight of Lang Son Geopark tourism brand on the world map.
