On the afternoon of September 23, in Bac Son district, the Lang Son Geopark Management Board chaired and coordinated with the Bac Son District Advisory Team on building and developing Lang Son Geopark and Bac Son District Ethnic Boarding Secondary and High  School to organize a contest about geoheritages and Geoparks - Celebrating the 83rd anniversary of the Bac Son Uprising (September 27, 1940-September 27, 2023). Participating in the contest were 300 participants who were students all grades of Bac Son District Ethnic Boarding Secondary and High  School.

The results of the Contest demonstrate the preparation efforts of the Contest Organizing Committee, Judges and the Contest's support staff; especially the candidates’ efforts to practice and the enthusiastic support and cheering of the audience. The candidates went through three parts: Ringing the Golden Bell; Presentation in English; Folk games. In the golden bell ringing contest, by answering 30 questions, candidates showed their understanding of outstanding geological, geomorphological, cultural and historical values, especially the Bac Son Uprising; biodiversity, natural landscapes and tourist attractions in the Lang Son Geopark region. In the English speech contest, candidates presented one geological heritage or one historical site in Bac Son district. In addition, the audience participated in a number of games: blindfolded to beat drums; rope skipping; dry boat racing; shuttlecock kicking; playing football. The Organizing Committee awarded seven first prizes, seven second prizes, seven third prizes, two consolation prizes to excellent candidates and groups of candidates and five gifts for the audience.

The contest contributes to improving the effectiveness of propaganda and education about culture, traditional history, geological heritage, Lang Son Geopark and Bac Son Uprising Day; diversifying forms of propaganda and education about geological heritage, Lang Son Geopark and Bac Son Uprising Day in schools; creating opportunities for students to demonstrate their understanding and passion for learning about cultural values, history, heritage, indigenous knowledge and local landscapes; providing a useful playground for students to exchange, share, improve knowledge, develop soft skills and demonstrate talents; building and developing a team of propaganda collaborators, creating media effects, promoting geological heritage, Lang Son Geopark and Bac Son Uprising Day to pupils and students in schools, residential communities and tourists. Then, it helps improve the quality of education and international integration in the Lang Son Geopark area, contributing to the successful construction and development of Lang Son Geopark, meeting the criteria and requirements of UNESCO in recognizing a Global Geopark.
