This Geopark is considered the cradle of UNESCO Global Geoparks. There are five discovery routes, more than 130 remarkable heritage sites - 1 day visit by car, a series of short walks (lasting 30 minutes to 3 hours), the key to getting to the "secret" places characteristic of the territory, located in the Southern Alps, on the northern edge of Provence, in the Alpes de Haute Provence, France; located equidistant Nice, Marseille and Grenoble (150 km); covers the western part of the Haute Provence National Geological Reserve and involves 60 communes corresponding to an area of 1,989 square kilometers.

Education and sustainability: more than 130 sites are organized by the territory's remarkable heritage, professional guides trained in both geology and contemporary art provide a wide range of stays for those new groups of tourists. Strongly participate in economic development by supporting the creation of new local products and quality processes through labeling for local economic partners. Administrative organization: Subordinate body of the Provence Alpes Municipality (Provence Alpes Agglomeration), administered through the Inter-city Agreement with the Sisteronais-Buëch Commune - Funded by the Provence Alpes Côte d'Or 'Azur and Haute-Provence Provincial Council.

.

A project of promoting heritage and sustainable territorial development strategies in cooperation with the people, promoting the wealth of the land: one Open-air museum, five discovery routes, meeting with owners of local restaurants, artisans, producers of information, explanations, guides; dynamizing the land with a rational development: Multi-stakeholder cooperation to realize a common action in a forward-looking vision; increase international visibility: Joining  networks at different levels: National, European and International, make advertising spots for different Geopark networks, Exchange project “Erasmus” +” / Geopark gathers four European Geoparks.

The Haute Provence UNESCO Global Geopark has five routes to discover the land and local people, linking conservation with sustainable development: The Road of Art imprints in the memory of the earth (explore the northern part through the center of the geopark, landscapes containing the Earth's Memory for 300 million years, tracking contemporary works created by famous artists); the Path of Mountains and People (the most "sports" route of the UNESCO Global Geopark, highlighting the special relationship between mountains and people: La Javie Ecomuseum, many walks short (maximum 3 hours and 30 minutes) to lesser known but magical places of the land); the Road of Pebbles, Flavors and Lavender (on the south side of the Geopark, the soil is made up of cobblestones more than 2 million years old - Crossing lavender fields, passing olive groves and reaching Moustiers-Sainte- Marie, one of the most beautiful villages in France); the Road of Stories, Words and Rocks (Land of the "Talking Stones" (rocks that broadcast stories in English and French); the Road of Time (A Man's Journey in Time) meet Earth's time - The secret, strange and even mysterious locations on this route make it a real "starter route")
